Meet the 2026 candidates: who is on your ballot in Lincoln's council elections

Forty-nine candidates are standing across Lincoln's 11 wards on 7 May, in a city where fewer than three in ten residents voted last time around.


Fewer than three in ten Lincoln residents voted at the last city council elections. This Thursday, 11 seats are up for grabs again — and in some wards, the winner could be decided by just a few hundred votes.

City of Lincoln Council elections take place on Thursday 7 May 2026, with one seat contested in each of the city's 11 wards.

The council controls many of the services that affect daily life in Lincoln. These include:

In May 2024, overall turnout across the city was just under 29%. Park Ward recorded the lowest figure at 23.35%. Carholme was highest at 34.31%. No ward saw more than four in ten residents cast a ballot.
