Editorial Standards
These standards describe the principles that guide how The Lincolnian reports, edits, and publishes its journalism.
We aim to report accurately, attribute clearly, and distinguish between verified fact, analysis, and opinion. When information is uncertain, that uncertainty should be made visible rather than blurred away.
We value fairness in sourcing and presentation. That includes giving subjects a reasonable opportunity to respond where appropriate and avoiding sensational framing that distorts the substance of a story.
Editing should improve precision, structure, and readability without softening important facts. We also expect clear disclosures around significant conflicts, corrections, and substantial updates.
- Accuracy comes before speed.
- Attribution should be clear enough for readers to understand the basis of a claim.
- Meaningful corrections and updates should be handled transparently.
