Independent coffee and cocktail bar BEAR set to open in Lincoln city centre this summer

Lincoln's city centre is getting a new place to settle in for the day, whether you want a flat white at nine in the morning or a cocktail at nine at night.

BEAR, an independent hospitality brand with eight locations across the UK, is opening a new venue in the Cornhill Quarter this summer.

The brand was started in 2014 by two friends, Craig and Michael, who set up their first spot in a shed in Uttoxeter. More than a decade on, BEAR has grown into one of the UK's most recognisable independent café and bar groups, with locations in Derby, Nottingham, Northwich, and beyond.

The Lincoln site will take over Unit 6 in the Corn Exchange Building. It will have an open layout and outdoor seating, making it a natural stop whether you are passing through or settling in for a few hours. The plan is for it to run all day: specialty coffee and brunch in the morning, food through the afternoon, and craft beers and cocktails into the evening.

BEAR describes itself as "fiercely independent" and puts community at the heart of what it does. As well as food and drink, its other locations have hosted live music nights and events like pottery workshops.

The Cornhill Quarter is one of Lincoln's busiest spots, with a regular mix of shoppers, students, and visitors. BEAR's arrival adds another all-day option to an area that already draws a steady crowd.
